Primal Scream headlines the ARTE Concert Festival 2018! Bobby Gillespie and his bandmates deliver a high-flying performance with an unclassifiable style.

Primal Scream is a unique adventure, the wake of a ship sailing through a thousand waters, sowing confusion in our minds. Alternative rock? Indie pop? Acid house? This band defies categorization, and that's what makes their rock 'n' roll so special. One album, one style—like a phoenix rising from the ashes, the Scottish group never ceases to surprise.

Formed by Bobby Gillespie and Jim Beattie in 1982 in the suburbs of Glasgow, Primal Scream honed their skills on the Scottish underground scene before releasing their first single in 1985, titled "All Fall Down." Carried away by the pop wave of the time, the band shifted gears to explore the acid house scene. It's 1991, and the album Screamadelica is released, laying the foundation for Primal Scream.

What British band can escape the sex-drugs-rock'n'roll combo? Gillespie and his band are caught in the turmoil. The result is the magnificent Vanishing Point, inspired by the famous road movie. Primal Scream establishes its mosaic of styles and brilliantly represents the Scottish scene. Since then, the band has constantly reinvented itself, and 35 years later, they're back on stage for an explosive musical feast. Pop rock, dub, psychedelic music, acid house—there's something for everyone.
